NOURISH — A COMMUNITY CAMPAIGN FOR OUR PERMANENT HOME

For all of Nourish Meals on Wheels’ 50 years of serving the community, we have been blessed to have a subsidized facility in which to operate. With little overhead, the capacity to dedicate resources almost exclusively to programming, is testimony to our inspiring growth and successful outreach in the South-Metro Denver area.

Now, we are embracing a new challenge and yet another relocation. But this time, we have made our move to a new, permanent home.

Thanks to a generous sponsor, we have been able to renovate and move into the former Las Delicias on South Broadway and Arapahoe Road in Littleton. But now, we need to purchase it. Transforming this former restaurant into a community center for nourishing our senior neighbors, will be the most dynamic campaign in the history of our organization. But with your support, we’re ready.

Last year we delivered 130,000 meals to over 800 individuals; 10% more than the year before. Having a permanent home will now provide us the stability for current services as well as becoming a destination for increased programming and capacity to welcome continued annual growth.

The anticipated costs to purchase the building along with renovations, moving and updating our kitchen equipment is $2,330,000. It’s a campaign goal, that when achieved, will allow us independence and self-sufficiency — the very same vision we have for our senior neighbors.

Plus, the 6,800 square foot new location with ample parking is more central to our delivery area, with easier access for staff, volunteers and the public.

Be assured that our passion to nourish the body, spirit, mind and community of our senior neighbors has been uplifted. We are delighted to announce that TLC Meals on Wheels will now be made stronger under the new operational umbrella of Nourish Meals on Wheels. A new name, that much like our new home, will grow along with us.

Today is the day that we are able to bring our time, talent and much-needed financial support together and continue enriching the lives of our neighbors in need.

Your support makes it possible.

Nourishing Neighbors Hearts

In celebration of your generosity, our new, permanent home will feature Nourishing Neighbors who have provided gifts of $1,000 or more to the Community Campaign. As a lasting expression of our thanks, we would like to create your heart featuring your special message, honorably displayed in our new Community Room. We will be coordinating your commemorative heart through a direct email form upon receipt of your gift.

The Miraculous Move

December 26, 2019

We delivered 1800 frozen meals to our clients to get them through the week we would be moving.

Everything from Ames was moved to 92, including kitchen appliances.

Renovations were happening right until the end.

December 31, 2019

We still had final inspections to pass: fire, Tri-County Health and the City. We passed them all!

At 2:30 on New Year’s Eve, Executive Director, Diane McClymonds, picked up our certificate of occupancy from the City of Littleton.

January 2, 2020

We prepared and served the first meal of 2020 here in our new kitchen.

On the menu, burritos! It seemed appropriate.

As planned, those who rely on us did not miss a meal.
